The Master in Balkan Studies programme at International Balkan University (Faculty of Law) is a MA (Master of Arts) program delivered in English over a duration of 1 year / 2 semesters (60 ECTS; can be extended for a second year without extra payment) (60). This programme provides interdisciplinary study of Balkan and Southeast European politics, history, culture, and society. Students examine regional dynamics, inter-ethnic relations, EU integration processes, and the geopolitical position of the Balkans in Europe. Graduates pursue careers in diplomacy, international organisations, NGOs, journalism, and academic research.

The 2026/27 Call states minimum B1 and internal English exam pass 60/100; students below threshold must attend the IBU Preparatory English Language Program (3,000 EUR/year Balkan countries, 5,000 EUR/year international students).
Completed first-cycle (bachelor) studies of 240 ECTS per Article 108 of the Law on Higher Education of the Republic of North Macedonia or international equivalent; minimum average grade 7.00/10.00; English language proficiency; master's thesis prepared and defended within two years of registration. Program will not be activated if fewer than 5 students enroll.
